Trioer is an audio-visual installation and live performance where customized 16mm-film projectors and electroacoustic instruments are weaved together in an intricate, yet intuitive system where audio triggers image and vice versa. The projectors are equipped with a modified printer system, simultaneously painting on the film while projecting it on the walls. Analog electroacoustic music crosses paths with rhythmically shifting drone-techno, framed by engaging and ever-evolving visuals.
The artists are mere operators, following a strictly composed script turned imperfect by the unpredictable nature of analogue sound and visuals.
'Trioer' is ultimately a DIY project where robust and perfectly engineered machines and instruments are hacked to create new possibilities.
Trioer is a project by Stephan Meidel, Petri Hendrikson and Carlos Vasquez of Blank Blank Film.
I joined the project as a performer during their first tour.
